Drone Registration Update

Below is a quick summary of what the CAA reported on the 21st October 2019 as to what will need to be done in regards to drone regulations.

Who?

Everyone who flies a drone above 250 g outside.
When?
You can register from 5th November 2019, you must be registered by 30th November 2019 onwards.
How much?
£9 per year.
What is FlyerID?
A code you need to have on you when flying any drone. To obtain the code you must complete a 20 question multiple choice test every 3 years, you must get at least 16/20 correct. This is free.
What is OperatorID?
A code you receive after paying £9 every year to attach to all of your drones.
But I have PfCO!
Then you don't need to do the 20 question test. you still need to pay £9 every year.
What if I just ignore all of this?
If you operate your drone you may be subject to a fine if you fail to produce, when requested by a police officer the relevant codes.
What extra resources are the police getting to enforce this?
None for now. Next year possibly more stop and search powers.
